CARE House of Oakland County, a nonprofit serving the needs of abused and neglected children, will host child abduction survivor and ABC News correspondent Elizabeth Smart at its annual Circle of Friends benefit Jan. 26.
The luncheon will feature Smart telling her story of overcoming extreme adversity and speaking on how to not allow the past to dictate a child survivor's future. The event will benefit CARE House's advocacy and child abuse prevention.
Circle of Friends registratoin begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch served at noon, and the program beginning shortly thereafter. Cynthia Canty, a veteran Detroit broadcaster, will emcee the program.
During the program, CARE House will recognize Pat Rosen, its former executive director who left her position in October for a new nonprofit leadership job in Florida, as the Circle of Friends honoree.
CARE House supporters are also invited to join Smart at a private Preview Party and Strolling Supper to benefit CARE Houser prior to the luncheon on Jan. 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the home of Vicki and Tom Celani in Bloomfield Hills.
