The League of Women Voters Oakland Area is sponsoring a candidate forum for those running for the Birmingham Board of Education.
There are three candidates running for two spots. Candidates serve four-year terms.
- Mary Katherine Blake
- Michael Fenberg
- Geri Rinschler
A fourth candidate, Jack Connelly, dropped out of the race on Sept. 17 via email to the school board and district officials.
The public is invited to learn more about the candidates for this important office and ask questions of them. The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization with membership open to anyone 18 years of age or older who would liek to participate in hands-on work to encourage activie and informed participation by citizens in government.

More About Birmingham Public Schools — Administrative Offices
Serving more than 8,000 students in Birmingham, Beverely Hills, Bingham Farms, Franklin and Bloomfield Township, the Birmingham Public School District is made up of two high schools, eight elementary schools, two middle schools, an alternative high school program, and the Birmingham Covington School. Additional facilities include an early childhood center, a senior citizens' center and a conference center.
The district also offers special education, half-day preschools, commuity education programs, interscholastic and intermural sports and vocational education.
