Royal Oak Patch reported that most neighbors returned home on Friday after a ruptured gas line cause an explosion at 4200 block of Cooper Avenue and killed Daniel Richard Malczynski, 58, of Royal Oak.
Consumers Energy went door-to-door Monday to listen to residents' concerns and answering questions in the aftermath of Wednesday's explosion.
“We are doing a proactive outreach to see if there is anything we can do,” said Debra Dodd, senior public information director for Consumers Energy, which includes answering questions regarding safety concerns, testing and take note of damages. “If someone wants testing, we’ll have crews on standby in the neighborhood that can do it.”
If residents have damage, such as plaster or drywall that cracked as a result of the explosion, the utility company will take notes and follow up within a week, Dodd said.
Consumers Energy plans to return on Tuesday to continue its outreach.
“If we miss anyone, residents can call 800-477-5050 and schedule a personal visit,” Dodd said.
