Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

What's the Best Gym in Birmingham?

Share your recommendations for the best places to work out in town.

When a new family moves into your neighborhood and asks for your recommendations for stores, take-out places or professional services, what do you say?

Because Patch has an extensive directory of local businesses, we want all of our readers to benefit from your experience the way your neighbors do. Who do you call when you have a plumbing nightmare? Where do you go for a last-minute blowout before big date? Who do you trust when your car starts making a weird noise? Share your knowledge by leaving reviews on businesses in our directory.

Every week, we'll focus on a different product or service. Today the hot topic is fitness centers.

Visit Birmingham Patch Places to learn about local gyms and write reviews. Which local fitness center has been your favorite? Or did you find one that smelled too much of stinky socks?

Let us know by clicking through to the profile pages of these businesses and leaving your comments:

Also, if you own one of these businesses (or any business in Birmingham), did you know you can claim your listing? Find out more at Business Owners: Learn How to Claim Your Listing.

It's not in Birmingham, but for $10 a month you CAN NOT beat Planet Firness in Southfield. 40 treadmils, 16 TVs, Elipticals, bikes and over 60 pieces of equipment.
Clean and tidy and open 24/5.

Beverly Hills Club on Southfield, slightly south of 14 Mile, is popular for Spinning, swimming, tennis, yoga, pilates, Zumba, resistance equipment, free weights, TRX System straps and personal training.

Readers interested in yoga and pilates without a full-service gym have multiple local choices:
* Yoga Shelter (four to six Sanga classes daily), South Old Woodward.
* Center for Yoga, also on South Old Woodward.
* YC Yoga for Life Center in the Rail District.
* Ashtanga Yoga Room on Townsend.
* Townsend Street Pilates, owned by Judi and Richard Porter.
* Studio M Pilates, South Old Woodward, owned by Molly Baran of Bloomfield Hills.
* Pilates Birmingham, owned by Anne Hepler on North Old Woodward.
