When: 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday
Why Go: After choking on car exhaust fumes the past month, Birmingham is celebrating non-motorized transportation with its first annual bike festival. The event includes a half-mile cycling race for amateurs and professionals through downtown, bike inspections, a "kids corral" and various activities and local vendors. - Family Fun Day

When: 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday
Why Go: The Central Birmingham Residents Association will hold a family fun day Saturday to raise funds for the iMatter program at Pierce Elementary. The day will include games and prizes, crafts, a police and fire truck and food. - Red Cross Blood Drive
Where: Baldwin Public Library
When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday
Why Go: The Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the library Friday. To schedule an appointment, call 313-549-7041 though walk-ins are welcome. Also, 16-year-olds are allowed to donate this year if they meet the health and weight requirements, plus have a Red Cross Consent form completed by a legal guardian. - Italian Collection Trunk Show

Where: Evola Music at 2184 S.Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township
When: 7 p.m. Friday
Why Go: Pianist Matthew Ball, also known as the "Boogie Woogie Kid," and jazz guitarist Rob Bourassa will perform Friday night. Tickets are $10 for adults (children are free) and reservations are required by calling 1-248-334-0566.
