Volunteering on MLK Day? Share Your Photos on Patch!

The third Monday in January — otherwise known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day — can be a day off spent sleeping in and lounging around the house.
But for millions of Americans, it's a day spent volunteering.
Nowhere is that more true than in Birmingham. Though schools are officially closed, on Monday Birmingham teachers will participate in a day full of professional development — with a focus on social justice issues, differentiated instruction, and learning style differences. Meanwhile, students across the districts will be volunteering at dozens of local charities and non-profits.
Will you be giving some of your time to a good cause, or did you already on Saturday — the National Day of Service declared by President Barack Obama?
Show off a job well done by posting the photos on Birmingham Patch.
