This empty building sits at the gateway to downtown Birmingham, located at the southwest corner of Woodward Avenue and Oak Street, just across the street from now-being-renovated Mobil station.

Birmingham Patch wants to know: What's your vision for this building?

According to LoopNet.com, the building and property is up for sale for $1.98 million. The empty building is currently sitting on just over half an acre.

You don't need to be a commercial developer or city planner — or have money to invest in a business project — to have the next great idea. We want to hear about it.

Too many vacancies; not enough ideas. Birmingham needs a university campus. A branch of one of the state universities would be ideal. The Triangle District would be the best place to cluster the buildings necessary, but if they have to be spread out, this spot, with frontage on Woodward and a back door facing a ravine, would work. The contribution such an institution could make to our community would be huge -- especially if it focused on the arts and other creative endeavors.

Clinton, great idea! U of M Birmingham? How about Oakland University locating the nursing program here, close proximity to Beaumont . . .

Barnum School would have been a great part of such a plan, but we sent Beaumont packing and demolished the school. Maybe the park could still provide the fields a college would need.

Barnum Trivia; site cost more than the "Louisiana Purchase", Alaska Territories (oil, Sarah and all!) and a little island known as Manhattan! I remember sending emails at the time requesting the park site be revenue neutral by selling off part of the land, oil well!

Orrin initially followed the lessons of his fourth grade teacher who repeatedly said "When the going gets tough, the tough get going". He took this seriously and applied in his life to gain success and loyalty. The greatest support of his life and the confidence that he attained to fight battles was from his father, a philosopher of life and his mother a fanatical worker. From his fourth grade he followed what he received from his mother’s ethics on work with his father’s thinking complimented with his teachers tough principle. These concepts brought in a true revolution in his life to be what he is now - the master in leadership and personal development.
