We all have one and we see dozens daily. Front doors are so common that they may fade into the background, unappreciated by those walking, pedaling or driving past.

Closer looks can be rewarded, particularly in a season of blooms, sunshine and extra daylight. On pretty much any block, you'll spot elegance and whimsy, natural wood and bold colors, classics and cutting-edge designs. Some homes have stark, sleek, stylishly minimalist front doors. Others wear hammered hardware, leaded-glass windows and husky brass knockers.

The accompanying gallery shows eye-catching entries noticed during random wandering in neighborhoods this week. Three business doorways are a reminder that commercial can be classy too.

Patch admired other portals and invites you to post yours by clicking on "Add your photos" directly above. In that spirit, the writer-photographer includes his doorway as today's final shot.
