Police Searching for Three Young Men After Multiple Thefts at Seaholm
Police were called to the high school Wednesday after students reported a stolen laptop, cell phones, checkbooks and more.
Birmingham police are looking for three young men who they believe are behind a string of recent thefts at Seaholm High School.
According to police reports, officers responded to Seaholm Wednesday to investigate several incidents of theft, including claims that a car and locker had been broken into sometime after school.
One incident involved a car parked in the Seaholm parking lot that was found by its owner with its door open, police said. Missing from inside were a laptop with its black canvas case, three checkbooks and two Qdoba gift cards. According to police, there was no sign of forced entry.
In a separate incident that afternoon, police say a Sprint HTC Evo cell phone and a red G-Shock watch were stolen from a backpack in one of the school's locker rooms, while an iPhone 4 and brown Fossil wallet were stolen from a locker in the same locker room.
According to police, a surveillance video taken near the time of the thefts shows three young men entering the locker room. All three are described as black and between 15 and 25 years old.
- The first is described as being between 5'8" and 5'10" and weighing 140-170 pounds, wearing a black Northface jacket, a grey hooded sweatshirt, black hat, blue jeans and black shoes.
- The second is described as being between 5'6" and 5'8" and weighing 150-180 pounds. He was seen wearing a black White Sox jacket, a white shirt, grey hat, tan pants and tan shoes.
- Finally, a third suspect is described as being between 5'9" and 6 feet tall, weighing 150-170 pounds. He was seen wearing a black jacket with a hood, a dark green hat with a white block letter "S" and blue jeans.
While the three young men were seen near the locker room near the time of the thefts, police aren't sure if they were involved in the parking lot theft as well. Police do not believe the three young men to be students.

I am surprised with the latest security measures just announced by the Supt., that anyone could get into Seaholm without being cleared!

That is an interesting question. The article states it happened AFTER school... I suppose that means after scheduled academic classes. Does anyone watch to see who comes IN the building while most children are streaming out at the end of the day? What about extra-curricular activities in the building? How long would the "security guards" be on duty (in those districts that have them) and will someone be hired to monitor the Buzzer system into the evening hours?

My understanding is that all guards leave about 30 mins after school lets out. Also, there were emails flying around about a week or so ago about kids on Seaholm's wrestling team having things stolen right out of the locker room. Wonder if these people are responsible for this as well?
Also, again, this proves my point - we are wasting $250K (by my calculations) on these "guards." Things like this happen in schools. The world needs to adjust. Parents NEED to step up and STOP hiding their kids' issues. I run into this with my business all the time. Maybe this will be the topic of my next blog entry. Yes, I think so.

Are you kidding? Does the world need to adjust to 3 punks coming into a school and stealing from students??? You actually think these criminal's parents have any meaningful control or input or even care about what their kids are doing? If they did, they wouldn't be doing it in the first place.
