UPDATE: Village Fair Brings the Bright Lights to Birmingham
There were smiles and screams as the Birmingham Village Fair opened for its 49th season this weekend.

The 49th season of the Birmingham Village Fair opened Thursday afternoon with plenty of thrills, chills and funnel cakes for all.
The annual summertime festival, sponsored by the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber and put on by North American Midway Entertainment, invaded Shain Park and the surrounding streets Thursday.
With more than 15 rides, carnival games and fair food, the fair is scheduled to keep on rocking until closing at 9 p.m. Sunday.
