Two Bikes Worth More than $5,000 Stolen From KLM Bike & Fitness

Two Giant brand bikes went missing after a thief broke into the Woodward Avenue bike shop late last Tuesday night.

A thief made off with more than $5,000 in bicycles last week from KLM Bike & Fitness on Woodward.

According to police reports, bike shop employees reported that sometime around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, someone broke the bottom left window of their sliding front door. Police believe the suspect used a rock to break through the glass.

In total, two bicycles were missing from the store the next day: a blue, black and silver Giant TCR Advanced Zero compact bike, in the medium to large model. That bike is worth $4,550, employees say.

The other missing bike is a 2013 Giant Avail 3 compact bike, medium model, in black, purple and white. That bike is worth $915.

Birmingham Police after viewing the store's surveillance tapes, they determine the suspect is a man, though they weren't able to report any other description at this time.

Police continue to investigate and those with tips should contact birminghampoliec@bhamgov.org.
