Lacrosse Titles Times 2: Brother Rice, Country Day Both State Champs
Brother Rice takes home 9th straight championship; Country Day handily defeats East Grand Rapids for its first since 2005.
Lacrosse? Birmingham and Bloomfield teams seem to have this sport figured out, if the two state titles and one not-so-close game on Saturday are any indication.
The Brother Rice boys lacrosse team rolled to its ninth straight state title, 15-4, over Forest Hills Eastern-Northern in Division I, while Detroit Country Day took home the Division II trophy as well. Both games took place at at Seaholm High School.
Detroit Country Day handily defeated East Grand Rapids 13-5. The Yellowjackets (13-7) came back from a rocky start to the year, with a 11-game win streak closing the regular season.
Meanwhile in Troy, the Gazelles of Bloomfield Hills Academy of the Sacred Heart battled into overtime before losing 17-16 to Grand Rapids Catholic Central in the girls title game.
