Some of the most sophisticated palates in the culinary arts will be in Bloomfield Hills Sunday for the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour.
And the chefs and staff at the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club, the host of the event, are up for the challenge, said Catering Director Sue Helzer.
"We have never hosted an event like this and are very honored to be selected," Helzer said.
"Our Chef Kevin Peasgood was nominated to participate and host this event, and we have our in-house staff as well as our banquet staffing company sending additional staff to accommodate such a high-end dinner."
Featured at the event are a tasty line-up of local and national chefs Jonathon Sawyer, Aaron Butts, Jeremy Ashby, Matt Danko, Tom Sheridan and the Open Hunt's Chef Kevin Peasgood. Also cooking will be the Townsend Hotel's newest executive chef, Drew Sayes.
The event sold out weeks ago, and will feature other various other local chefs volunteering to be part of the prestigious event, Helzer said.
Patrons will be treated to a six-course meal where each chef prepares one appetizer and one course with a wine pairing. Each chef will also describe their course and give diners a rare opportunity to engage with culinary experts, according to the program's website.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with passed hors d'oeuvres, sparkling wine and Stella Artois Beer, as well as a cash bar. Club riders will also be in the indoor arena for the guests to enjoy.
The Birmingham-Bloomfield area is no stranger to the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour. In November 2010, the event made a stop at Birmingham's Forrest Grill.
