Catherine Galligan, a senior at Roeper this fall, attended Michigan Technical University's Women in Engineering Summer Program.

For Roeper School senior Catherine Galligan, this summer has been all about picking up the skills she'll need in school, her career and life.

Galligan recently returned from the Women in Engineering Summer Program at Michigan Technical University, a scholarship program that invites 150 high school girls to participate in a week of first-hand engineering experiences.

Led by industry leaders, female students attend engineering sessions and participate in special topic presentations and group projects covering 14 fields of engineering. The program also gives girls tips on how to apply for college engineering programs and a glance in college life.

To apply for the program, female students must have an average GPA of at least 3.9. For more information, visit www.YouthPrograms.mtu.edu.
