Birmingham elementary students taste-test three oatmeal recipes as part of the Super Bowl Breakfast Challenge.
On Friday, students taste-tested a variety of oatmeal recipes as part of the Oatmeal Taste Test. The winning recipe will be submitted to Fuel Up To Play 60's Super Bowl Breakfast Challenge, during which two national winners will be selected to receive a free trip to Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.
"Our students submitted oatmeal cereal recipes and we selected the top three to make and taste test," said Derek DiViovanni, Greenfield's physical education teacher. "We want the students to have an opportunity to sample healthy breakfast alternatives. Not only do they need to be eating breakfast, but they should be eating a nutritious breakfast.
Fuel Up To Play 60 is a school-based nutritiou and fitness initiative that aims to get students involved in creating a healthier school environment and promotes student health, learning and achievement. The programs encourages students to choose more nutritious foods, get 60 minutes of physical activity every day and get their friends involved.
