Birmingham United Girls Lacrosse Defeats Hartland for State Title
Birmingham United pulls together in a thrilling down-to-the-wire overtime victory.
In a thrilling come-from-behind win in overtime, the Birmingham United girls lacrosse team defeated Hartland 12-11 on Saturday to claim the Division 1 state championship.
It was a game filled with emotional swings. Birmingham's Kathy Quigley scored the last two goals, including one goal with only eight seconds left in overtime, according to a recap in the Detroit Free Press.
Birmingham United girls last won the Division 1 lacrosse championship in 2009, according to the MHSAA.
