Birmingham Police Make Three Drunk Driving Arrests Last Weekend
Officers arrest a pair of Sterling Heights drivers and a Royal Oak woman for driving under the influence of alcohol.
It was a busy couple of evenings for the Birmingham Police officers on duty last weekend, after they arrested three individuals, two from Sterling Heights and one from Royal Oak, on drunk driving charges.
The first incident occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday, police reports say. Officers pulled over the driver — a 21-year-old from Sterling Heights — for speeding near Big Beaver and Adams.
Officers discovered his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit and, upon arresting him, issued him a citation for operating while intoxicated.
The next evening, around 8 p.m. Friday, Birmingham officers responded to a call about a driver swerving between lanes on Maple Road, near Southfield. According to police reports, officers followed the car, saw it swerving and speeding, and pulled it over near Maple and Eton.
According to police, the driver — a 30-year-old woman from Sterling Heights — was under the influence of alcohol. She too was arrested and issued an operating while intoxicated citation.
The final arrest happened around midnight Saturday, when a Birmingham officer pulled over a vehicle that failed to yield at a traffic light near South Old Woodward and George. The driver was a 31-year-old from Royal Oak and was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
