Back to School Need to Know: Register Your Student for 2011-12 School Year

Registration at all Birmingham Public Schools and surrounding private schools begins this week. Here's what you need to know.

 

The countdown continues for Birmingham students as they prepare to head back to the classroom. This week, all schools in the Birmingham Public School district, as well as several of Birmingham's private schools, begin the registration process.

School officials ask that parents arrive at registration with all the appropriate forms filled out, including emergency information forms, technology acceptable-use forms, health care plans and permission to administer medicine. All forms, including forms for new students, can be found on the district's website. At registration, parents can also pick up their back-to-school packets, find out which class their child is in and meet the teachers and staff.

Is your child heading back to school this fall? You've gotta register. So here are the registration dates and times you need to know:

Elementary schools

Pembroke Elementary

  • Aug. 24: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Quarton Elementary

  • Aug. 24-25: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Bingham Farms Elementary

  • Aug. 24: 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Aug. 25: 1-2 p.m. (kindergarten only)
  • Aug. 24: 4-7 p.m.
  • Aug. 29: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Aug. 30-Sept. 1: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Beverly Elementary

  • Aug. 24: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Aug. 25: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Greenfield Elementary

  • Aug. 23: 8 a.m.-noon
  • Aug. 24: 3-6 p.m.

Harlan Elementary

  • Aug. 24: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Aug. 25: 1-4 p.m.

Pierce Elementary

  • Aug. 25: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

West Maple Elementary

  • West Maple is having open registration until the first day of school, Sept. 6. Back-to-school packets will be mailed to families beginning next week.

Middle schools

Birmingham Covington School

  • Aug. 24: 9 a.m.-noon; 5-7 p.m.

Berkshire Middle School

  • Aug. 24: 9 a.m.-noon (Grades 7, 8)
  • Aug. 25: 4-6 p.m. (all grades)
  • Aug. 31: 4-6 p.m. (late registration)
  • Note: Grade 6 registration was Aug. 22.

Derby Middle School

  • Aug. 24: 8-11 a.m. (Grade 6); 1-4 p.m. (Grade 8)
  • Aug. 26: 8-11 a.m. (Grade 7)

High schools

Seaholm High School

  • Aug. 24: 8-11 a.m. (Grades 9 and 11)
  • Aug. 25: 12:30-3:30 p.m. (Grades 10 and 12)

Groves High School

  • Aug. 25: 8-11 a.m. (Grade 9)
  • Aug. 25: 12:30-3 p.m. (Grade 12)
  • Aug. 29: 8-11 a.m. (Grade 10)
  • Aug. 29: Noon-3 p.m. (Grade 11)

Private schools

Roeper Upper School

  • Aug. 24: 10-11:30 a.m., middle/upper school welcome back day
  • Aug. 30: 10 a.m., middle/upper school new students orientation

Eton Academy

  • Aug. 29-31: Class schedule pickup

Our Shepherd Lutheran School

  • Aug. 28: Welcome back barbecue
