- Writers Live event Wednesday: The Baldwin Public Library will host Writers Live with Susan Whitall at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A local author, Whitall is the author of Fever: Little Willie John. The event is free and open to the public.
- Storytellers Guild welcome back meeting Thursday: The Birmingham Storytellers Guild, a sponsored group of The Community House, will be hosting a welcome back meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at The Community House. During the meeting, Connie Ilmer, Baldwin's director of youth services, will discuss her favorite children's literature of 2012.
- City Commission to meet Monday: The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday for their regular meeting at City Hall. On the agenda is a bistro license transfer between Papa Joe's Gourmet Market and their new restaurant concept, Addie & Jacks.
- School Board to meet Tuesday: The Birmingham Board of Education will meet for its first meeting of the 2012-13 school year at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the district's administrative offices. On the agenda is a resolution approving the hiring of several new teachers across the district.
- Planning Board to meet Wednesday: The Birmingham Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. On the agenda is the final site plan review for renovation plans at the Christian Science Reading Room.
