5 Things To Know This Week: Back-to-School Forum, Social Mixer Thursday

Here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.

 
  1. City Commission to meet Monday: The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. On the agenda yet again is the public hearing to request the revocation of South Bar's liquor license
  2. Back-to-School Breakfast Wednesday: The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber will host a back-to-school breakfast and forum with Birmingham Public Schools superintendent Daniel Nerad and Bloomfield Hills Schools superintendent Robert Glass. The breakfast begins at 8 a.m. at the Birmingham Conference Center.
  3. Local resident's film showing all week: WaterWalk: A Passage of Ghosts, starring and directed by area resident Bob Cicchini, will be showing at the Birmingham 8 all week long. Cicchini will also be in town for various appearances this week, during which Uptown Entertainment will host giveaways and opportunities to chat with the actors. 
  4. Social mixer Thursday: The Blackwood Business Club will be hosting a social mixer and networking event beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at Zazios. The event will include appetizers for the first hour and exclusive drink specials. Entrance is $15 if you RSVP early and $20 at the door. 
  5. July 2011 property taxes due Friday: Friday is the last day to pay July 2011 property taxes without penalty. For more information, call 248-530-1980.
