What's Open on Christmas Anyway?

Need to run an errand on Sunday? Where do you go if you find yourself re-living the end of 'A Christmas Story?' Here's what's open this Christmas in Birmingham.

Normally we do a countdown of activities to help you plan for your next weekend adventures, but with Christmas coming this week, we thought we'd try to help you plan for the holiday in and around Birmingham.

Today we are going to share with you some area restaurants and businesses that will be open on Christmas.

  • — This Birmingham favorite, located inside the , is offering five seatings for Christmas dinner between 6:30-7:30 p.m. The Grille is offering their normal menu for dinner but this year, unlike previous years, the restaurant will be serving beer, wine and liquor as well.
  • — Does the end of A Christmas Story come to mind? This traditional Chinese restaurant offers more than 100 entrees on their menu and will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Christmas.
  • — If you forgot to fill up your tank or need an extra bag of chips, the Mobil Station on 14 Mile — which has a convenience store inside — will be open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
  • — While the pharmacy is closed, CVS drug stores are open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Christmas Day. The stores stock basic grocery items, over-the-counter medications, toys, books and gift items, including a selection of gift cards.
  • — If part of your family tradition is going to the movies on Christmas Day, have no fear. The Palladium will begin showing movies at 11 a.m. on Christmas and will run all day until 10 p.m.
