MJSF Accepting Hall of Fame Nominations

 The Michigan Jewish Sports
Foundation (MJSF) is accepting nominations for its prestigious Hall of Fame.
All nominees should have made proven, significant contributions to their sport
to be considered.  Criteria for selection
and the online nomination forms can be accessed at www.michiganjewishsports.org or at www.facebook.com/michiganjewishsports.
Deadline is Friday, March 15, 2013.

Founded in 1984, the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, housed in the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield, honors Jewish individuals who have distinguished themselves in athletics within the state of Michigan and fosters Jewish identity throughout the world.  The 2013 HoF Induction will take place in the fall. Proceeds from this event will benefit children’s charities and the Hall of Fame. Some past Hall of Famers include
prominent Michigan sports figures, such as Detroit Tiger Hank Greenberg, Detroit Piston’s owner William Davidson, author and media personality MitchAlbom, tennis champion
Aaron Krickstein, boxing manager Jackie Kallen, and WXYZ sportscaster Don Shane, to name just of few. The Foundation will also honor “Pillars of Excellence”, who are notable coaches and referees. Past winners are Barry
Bershad, Fred Cohen, Howard Golding, Burt Hurshe, Alan Kaczander, Rick Kaczander, and Howard Stone.

The Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation is a 501(c)(3)
philanthropic organization committed to raising funds for charitable contributions to benefit health, education and the less privileged and to honoring Jewish athletes with a Michigan connection.  Since its inception in 1984, thanks to the generosity of many and through annual fundraising initiatives, over $1,000,000 has been raised to help fight prostate cancer through grants to the Weisberg Cancer
Treatment Center, part of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute; the Karmanos Cancer Institute’s Genetic Counseling Service, an important initiative that provides genetic counseling and screening for anyone concerned about their risk of developing cancer; the Beaumont Cancer Center; and other cancer charities. In addition, the MJSF has supported the High School Athletes of the Year and scholarship programs; the Jewish Community Center’s Camp Kids All Together, Fame and Maccabi Games; Kids Kicking Cancer; The Bear Hug Foundation; and the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, located in the West Bloomfield
Jewish Community Center.
