Roeper Student Named to USA Swimming All-American Team
Alexandra Blankenburg, Rochester resident and senior at The Roeper School, has been named to the USA Swimming’s Scholastic All-America Team for the second year in a row. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event. Alexandra is one of only 11 students from Michigan to receive this award.
Alexandra is a member of the Oakland Live Y’ers (OLY) Swim Team. She practices year-round, nine times a week with five weekly sessions of dry land strength training and aerobics. Most recently, Alexandra qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 200m Fly.
In addition to working hard in the pool and at school, Alexandra has an intense interest in music and plays the trumpet, piano, guitar and sings.
Alexandra has not decided on a college major or which college she will be attending, but currently hasofficial visits planned for Vanderbilt University, University of South Carolina, University of Louisville, and Louisiana State University.
