On the Agenda: Walgreens to Come Before the Planning Board
The Birmingham Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall.
On the agenda is plans for a proposed Walgreens, which is looking to move into the former Borders location on Woodward Avenue. The location has been vacant since Sept. 12, when the store closed as part of the Ann Arbor-based bookstore chain's bankruptcy and liquidations proceedings.
Walgreens has already signed a letter of intent for the space with the building's landlord, city manager Bob Bruner said, and city staff met with a local developer and architect to discuss renovation plans.
Walgreens is coming before the Planning Board looking for approval of their final site plan, as well as a recommendation for a special land use permit. The project needs the permit in order to allow the operation of a drive-thru pharmacy on the first floor, where the pharmacy would be located. The second floor would be set aside for office use and storage.
Jax Car Wash
Jax Car Wash is also coming before the Planning Board with plans to remove the existing service booth from the Woodward Avenue car wash, construct a new booth in a new location as well as install a new auto-attendant gate.
Downtown bicycle parking plan
On the agenda for the board's study session is a downtown bicycle parking plan. No decisions are made during study sessions.
