New Police Officers to Be Sworn in At City Commission Meeting
Birmingham City Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday on the second floor of City Hall.

There will be a public workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Department of Public Services headquarters obtain input on the city's five-year parks and recreation master plan.
New police officers will be introduced to the community and sworn in.
Appointments
The commission will interview and swear in new members for the Board of Review, Historic District Study Committee and Advisory Parking Committee.
Consent Agenda
Commission will approve a request from the Principal Shopping District, who is looking to hold Family Movie Night June 24, July 29 and Aug. 12 in Booth Park.
The PSD is also proposing to hold the Birmingham Winter Markt in Shain Park, Dec. 2-4, 2011, the second for the German-inspired festival featuring food, art and local crafts for sale. The commission is also considering amending the 2010-11 PSD budget to accomodate the 2011 Winter Markt.
Several vehicle purchase requests are also on the consent agenda, include a resolution to purchase two utility vehicles, one debris blower, a lawn mower and a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria police car.
New Business
Commission will consider an amendment to the Tennis Facility Lease of the Birmingham Racquet Club, authorizing a 10-year extension to the lease and establishing that the Birmingham Racquet Club will be responsible for 100 percent of any repair costs and improvements with the club and grounds.
City commission will also consider whether two restaurants will be approved for new entertainment permits. The commission has to authorize the chief of police to sign a MLCC Law Enforcement Recommendation to approve the Hamilton Room and Chen Chow for dance permits. Chen Chow is also seeking a permit for outdoor food service.
