LionTown Gala to Feature Sculptures from Birmingham Artists

The Children’s Charities Coalition which includes CARE House of Oakland County and Variety The Children’s Charity, have partnered with the Detroit Lions’ “Living For The City” initiative to present LionTown 2012. LionTown features over 50 fiberglass lion sculptures uniquely decorated and adorned by local artists and designers and displayed throughout Birmingham, Bloomfield, and the metro Detroit area.

Guests are invited to join these organizations for a “roaring” good time and the opportunity to bid on these beautiful, one-of-a-kind creatures during the LionTown 2012 Gala event. In addition to a fabulous live and silent auction highlighting the lion sculptures, guests will also have the opportunity to meet Detroit Lions’ team members, alumni and management staff, a tailgate themed dinner and cocktails, games on the field and more. Proceeds from LionTown will benefit the outreach programs of the members of the Children’s Charities Coalition and the Detroit Lions’ “Living For The City” initiative.

WHEN: Liontown 2012 Gala, Tuesday, October 16, 2012 beginning at 6:30pm.

WHERE: Ford Field (2000 Brush St,  Detroit, MI 48226)

I know the charities need to use a sponsor's image. I get that. However, these have been the least creative results, because that realistic mane tamped down the possibilities. Someone who knows their art should be consulted when the base is picked. Alas, I fear these lions will bring less at auction than the other figures did. Then, again, maybe the Lions will buy each of them for their own homes.
