Clawson Man Named Community House 'Artist of the Month'
Clawson resident Julio Pallone has been named The Community House Artist of the Month for May.
Pallone is a graduate of the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, though Pallone began taking photos at age 7. Bold compositions and exaggerated colors compliment his still life portraits of plants.
"I'm interested in creating an interpretation of what I see as though I were painting my subject rather than merely documenting it," Pallone said.
Pallone is also a recipient of an Arts Midwest/NEA Visual Arts Fellowship Award, and has spend the past two decades refining his traditional darkroom skills.
Fifteen of Pallone's photographs are currently on exhibit in The Community House's Martha Maxwell Gallery, located on the second floor. The pieces range in price from $250-$400.
The public is welcome to view the exhibit 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The pieces will be on display through May 31.
