Residential parking permits are now available from the Birmingham Police Departments for all residents who live on streets designated as residential permit parking.

In order to obtain a residential parking permit, one must live in close proximity to a major commercial, industrial or school area where the Birmingham City Commission has determined that spill-over parking may be detrimental to the neighborhood. Residential permit parking is not permitted on a street or side of a street with municipal parking meters.

Permits can be picked up from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday in the police department's clerical area. There is an $8 charge per household.
